I ADORE my children's hair. They both got the recessive gene and while John and I have black hair, Johnny and Julian are nothing like us. Theirs is light brown, golden, almost ginger shade that burns in the sun like copper. And I let it grow because I love a long hair on boys, and it was awesome... But a time came when I could no longer manage it. They get hot in the summer, they never sit still to dry it after bath, and it gets in their eyes. So, I buzzed it all off. The kids look older now, more mature somehow, and definitely more boyish (they regularly get mistaken for girls). I miss their silky locks but if I know one thing for sure about life is that hair is just hair and it grows back.
