A Blast From the Past

I grew up with Ladas.  Back in Bulgaria, back in the day, I used to ride in them, see them everywhere, and try not to get hit by them.  Lada was the Toyota Corolla of the Balkans, along with its Russian brother Moskvitch, and the infamous East German cardboard car Trabant.  

So you can understand my surprise when John sent me this photo of a Lada speeding like a dream (or more like a hallucination) on a California freeway.  The next more surprising thing would be if I saw it myself.

And no, John didn't use his phone while driving; this was taken at a stop-and-go part of his commute with an iPhone 5 + zoom.

Man, I miss the Homeland.
